Cancer Mission Lab

Prevent, better recognise, and treat cancer.

Every year, several million people around the world are diagnosed with cancer, a quarter of whom live in the EU. This is why the EU Commission has launched the EU mission: Cancer. The aim is to save more than 3 million lives by 2030 and improve the life expectancy and quality of life of those affected. This is to be made possible through close cooperation between science and society. Scientific and non-scientific stakeholders are working together to develop solutions to better understand cancer, detect it earlier, treat it more effectively and improve the quality of life of those affected.

Caring Communities for Future

In cooperation with Gesundheit Österreich GmbH, the Ludwig Boltzmann Gesellschaft founded an OIS Impact Lab “Caring Communities for Future” in 2022 to develop innovative solutions for complex challenges of social change.

The OIS Impact Lab supports transdisciplinary research projects that work together with implementation projects from the fields of health promotion, care and urban planning to address specific practical problems and develop innovative perspectives for the sustainable establishment of health-promoting, caring communities. By involving civil society initiatives and municipal administrations, the aim is to improve the quality of life and health of citizens and relieve the burden on the health and care system.

The LBG OIS Center offers all project participants ongoing further education opportunities and training in the areas of transdisciplinary research, participatory methods and cooperation with stakeholders from society, science and practice. The cooperation between the LBG OIS Center and the Competence Centre Future Health Promotion (FGÖ/GÖG on behalf of the BMSGPK) as part of the OIS Impact Lab supports the transfer of knowledge between the research projects and innovative municipal practice projects.
