Our PPIE projects in portrait
How can patients and their family members be actively involved in research and what impact does this have on research but also on society?
Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) means carrying out research “with” or “by” patients and members of the public rather than “to”, ”about” or “for” them. PPIE activities aim to empower the public and people with lived experience by involving them in research. Projects benefit in terms of increased research quality and their impact on society: by addressing patients’ and the public’s needs and embracing their knowledge from personal experience or practice.
The OIS Centre offers support to apply PPIE practices in research. Our PPIE projects from the first PPIE Call are now presenting themselves in short videos (with English substitles).
