As part of Vienna Art Week 2025, the exhibition ‘X Frames’ presented around 70 artistic and scientific positions from 8 to 14 November 2025, demonstrating how art and science are interlocked. The LBG OIS Centre co-curated the exhibition and presented the Personal Planetary Pain (PPP) Map.
The X FRAMES PER SPACE • DIFFERENT LOGICS – SHARED QUESTIONS exhibition, which took place in mid-November as part of Vienna Arts Week, created an open space where art and science came together. Seventy artistic and scientific exhibits demonstrated how scientific data can inspire artistic processes, and how art engages with current scientific topics.
The LBG OIS Centre was represented with the PPP project (Personal – Planetary – Pain). This interactive map explores the connections between ecological loss, socio-economic suffering, and human pain experience. Users can share their own stories of pain and an algorithm maps the inividual pain on the map. This creates a growing collective memory of pain on Earth.
The PPP map was created as part of the ‘Impact Initiative on AI, Art and Health’, a project carried out by the LBG OIS Centre in collaboration with Ars Electronica and Johannes Kepler University.
