Digital Health Austria: New FZÖ funding initiative from FFG, aws, and LBG to launch in 2026

Austria is setting a strong impetus for digital health innovations

Digital Health Austria – Innovation for a Digital Health Future, a new funding initiative financed by the FZÖ, will be launched in June 2026 and implemented in close cooperation with the FFG, aws, and the Ludwig Boltzmann Society. The aim is to promote digital solutions that bring tangible improvements for patients, healthcare practices, and society. The binding tender documents for the first funding track are expected to be published on June 16, 2026, at the official kick-off event during Austrian Life Science Day.

Two funding tracks – one common goal

Digital Health flagship projects (expected start: June 16, 2026)
The target group is large, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary consortia that want to develop digital health solutions with high application potential and anchor them sustainably in the healthcare system. The focus is on effective overall solutions, structural impact, and concrete improvements for patients – especially in structurally weak regions.

Digital Health Ideas Labs (expected start: 2027)
An exploratory, co-creative format for developing new, risk-taking approaches at the interfaces of health, digitalization, society, and community. The aim is to open up new consortia, perspectives, and topics and enable innovations with a high social impact.

The Digital Health Austria funding initiative invites you to join us in further developing the healthcare system.
