Open Position - Program Manager

The Ludwig Boltzmann Society (LBG) is a research organization with a thematic focus on medicine,  the life sciences as well as the humanities, social sciences and cultural sciences, which specifically initiates new research topics in Austria. The LBG currently operates 19 Ludwig Boltzmann Institutes and clusters together with academic and applied partners, develops and tests new forms of cooperation between science and non-scientific actors such as companies, the public sector and civil society. Socially relevant challenges that research can contribute to overcoming are to be identified and addressed at an early stage. The LBG employs over 550 people. 
The LBG Open Innovation Center in Science (OIS) was founded in 2016 as a leading international center for open innovation methods and the application of such methods in science. The LBG OIS Center develops concrete offers and supports researchers from various disciplines in the targeted application of OIS methods and principles. For the focus "Public and Patient Involvement and 
Engagement" we are looking for a Program Manager to organize an interdisciplinary implementation program. The focus of this PPIE implementation program is on the development, organization and implementation of targeted involvement activities for the public and patients in research processes. 
To support the LBG Open Innovation in Science Center Teams, we are looking for a motivated and committed 


Program Manager 


(focus: Public and Patient Involvement and Engagement) 
to the extent of 40 hours per week 

Your core tasks:

 

  • Planning and implementation of the PPIE program, in particular:
    • Call and selection procedures o Implementation of information events and jury meetings
    • Preparation of information for scientific applicants, stakeholders and communication partners
    • Support of a PPIE online platform
  • Advising researchers on involvement activities in research
  • Implementation of PPIE trainings, workshops and webinars
  • Establishment and maintenance of the PPIE network
  • Monitoring of the PPIE involvement activities

 

Your qualifications: 
 
  • a university degree (preferably in health) or equivalent qualification, particularly in the field of public and patient involvement
  • High level of initiative and problem solution competence and creative thinking
  • Affinity to topics of research, research management and experience in dealing with and advising scientists and researchers from different disciplines
  • Ideally interest / previous experience in Open Innovation, Citizen Science, Open Science, participatory methods in research
  • Excellent language skills in German and English
  • Very good IT user knowledge (MS-Office, online databases) as well as experience in dealing with social media
  • High motivation, implementation orientation, flexibility and service orientation
  • Strong ability to work in a team, social competence and communication skills
